This information can be compared to a scofflaw database loaded on the computer. This database includes lists of cars subject to booting or towing, as well as stolen cars and cars wanted for other reasons.

Because LPR technology can scan thousands of license plates in an hour, productivity increases, scofflaws are immediately identified, and the collection process is shortened, thus providing a complete parking enforcement solution for municipalities, colleges and universities, and others.

In addition, LPR is perfect for identifying people who have surpassed the allotted time limit in timed parking zones. On the first pass of a timed parking zone, the camera/software records the GPS location of the vehicle. On the second pass, it compares it to the permitted parking time (e.g. two hours) and alerts the motorist to vehicles that have parked in excess of the legal time limit.
